Dream

ServicesThe Feed the Hungry Project currently prepares and distributes over 7,500 meals annually, to the homeless; at-risk youth; elders in need; those struggling with addictions; families in transition from welfare to work; and those who are unemployed and under employed in the Middletown area. Special meals are prepared for holidays such as Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. During the summer months, the organization prepares and distributes nutritious lunches for more than 80 local at-risk youth, ages 3 to 18. This opportunity, which began in 2006 is made possible through the Carel Cosby Summer Food for Kids Grant Program and is a partnership with Family Service of Middletown. In addition to these food distribution efforts, the organization opens its doors to community and church groups to host special events, community-based meetings, and educational opportunities.

The Dream Center continues to engage in fundraising activities to support the Feed the Hungry Project, such as the Annual Dinner which has featured NFL Hall of Fame Nominee, Cris Carter in 2007; Head Coach, NFL Cincinnati Bengals’ Marvin Lewis in 2008. The Board has participated over the past three years in the Middletown Community Day event as an annual fund raiser and continues to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners that include gifts for the children.

In addition to its Summer Food for Kids program, The Dream Center in partnership with the Workforce One Summer Jobs program held a Summer Day Camp for the second time. Highlights of this program include field trips to state and local civic and educational attractions, including the National Freedom Center and the Civil Rights Game, and a weekly nutrition class provided by the Butler County branch of OSU extension.
